Teen Choice Awards and the Marine

Ok so I watched the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday which I didn't even know were on until a half hour before. Great job Fox promotions. Well anyway I've been watching them since the first one back in 1999. This years was the worst I've ever seen! Which says a lot since the one in 1999 and 2004 were pretty bad too. Well the hosts were Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson. With Dane it's just that I think he's not funny. I don't get his jokes and I don't see his appeal. Don't even get me started on Jessica. I guess she's an inspiration to somebody somewhere. Could I get away with being that stupid if I was blonde? Everybody loves blondes. But I can make an entirely separate blog about blonde envy later. Actually the only part of the show I was looking forward to seeing was Federline's performance. As I watched the show I realized I didn't recognize a whole lot of people in the show. I also realized how far I am removed from teen culture at 22! I feel old. Plus there was really nobody good there like last year. In '05 Gwen Stefani and John Cena were there. But they were both busy this year. Plus I don't like Pirates or High School Musical. Which I think are also highly overrated. Well the K-Fed performance was so funny! Even though it wasn't supposed to be. I had to see it because I knew they would make fun of it on Kevin and Bean. Too bad K-Fed didn't do PopoZao. I really wanted to see that live.
On Raw I saw the trailer for John Cena's movie, The Marine. You know since I already know about what the movie is about the trailer really confused me. Maybe it's because I'm a Cena fan, I don't know. I don't really know what this move will do for his career, hurt it maybe? It's already in the toilet. I don't know we'll have to see. Even though I'm not big on action movies I'll probably see it just for Cena.

Ok so the OC is cancelled, but really people what are we going to do about it? I don't want to sound pessimistic about it, but I mean it's just a show. I felt more disappointment when Arrested Development was cancelled. I mean sure you can write and do all the petitions you want. But is that really going to do anything when the creator is done with the show.
Then I see people who are like 14 or have the mentality of one saying
"WHAT THE OC IS CANCELLED!!!111111 OMG!!!!!11111 I'M GONNA CRY FOR 3 MONTHS AND THEN DIE THERE IS NO REASON FOR LIVING OR WATCHING TV!!!1111 I HATE FOX!!!11111"
Or something like
"I CAN'T BELIVE YOU BLAME THE SHOW GETTING BAD RATINGS ON THE DEATH OF MARISSA!!!!!!1111"
But the death if Marissa was a blow to the series and the ratings. A lot of viewers don't like change. But like I said before in a previous blog I was happy it wasn't Seth.
I personally think The OC was lacking in seasons 2 and 3. I refuse to comment on season 4 since I haven't seen all of it. I totally loved season "0" and season 1. I think I'll get season 1 on DVD if I can find it.
I usually feel that way about the 1^st season of most shows. It happened to me with Just Shoot Me and Friends. But not with Arrested Development it kept me laughing through all 3 seasons.

Review of Mixxzine

I've been busy again with more school work. I didn't even blog about Halloween. The last thing I wrote about was the writers' strike which is still going on. Here's a long blog I had been working on for a while.



The April 1998 issue 1-5!! This is an old magazine I sent away for as a free trial issue in 8th grade (1998). There are 4 different comics in here. Ice Blade, Parasyte, Magic Knight Rayearth, and Sailor Moon. I was never interested in Ice Blade or Parasyte. I prefer the shojo titles.

I really wanted this game it looked cool and if I had a computer back then I would have begged my parents to buy it for me.

I thought these ads were kind of funny. Usagi did persuaded me in getting a VW bug. I was not interested in the other products.


Notice most of the stuff available in the Mixx Mall is Sailor Moon stuff. I would have loved to have gotten the cell or the signboard.

Oh and Mokona bask in it's cuteness!

Graduation looked like a cool game. I guess it wasn't really popular since I couldn't find a lot of info on it.

Not the Worst Finale Ever! (An OC blog)

I've been writing this blog for at least 2 weeks now. The only reason it wasn't posted was because I've been busy getting ready for going back to school. I would never post this on that "tv" site *cough*tv.com*cough* since I'm way too "critical" of the show and wouldn't write "Teh fiNALaee Wuz SadddDDDD! Ill MiSS tHe oC"

The 2nd to last episode of The OC was pretty lame. I hate when shows are ending in a lame way. I mean an earthquake? Plus the way it affected everybody was so dumb. I lived through 2 big earthquakes, and they way they portrayed an earthquake was not accurate. At the end Taylor and her mother just make up!? Like a parent as mean and abusive as her mother would not just make up. That was just too sappy and unrealistic for me. The part at the end when they showed the Cohen's house in a wide shot was supposed to be misleading, but it was more confusing. The exterior shot of the house showed a fully intact roof but when they walk in the roof is all caved in.

The finale was ok I guess to me it was a little reminiscent of a Korean drama because it advanced so far in the future so quickly. I know it only went to a 16 episodes for the 4th season. I understand they might have rushed it a little since they would've had more episodes to use if it would have been on for a full season. It was pretty cheesy, but it didn't suck as bad as the Seinfeld finale. Worst finale ever! I did like that they mentioned Marissa. Julie should not forget her deceased daughter. I thought the best part was when Julie told Summer to discover who she was and not get lost in some guy. The thing that I didn't really like was that Anna was not in the finale not even a little cameo or anything. She has to be my 2nd favorite character after Seth. The last scene was kind of redundant/cute/lame. An older Ryan who is an architect now sees a boy on a street corner who is brooding and he sees himself. He asks the boy if he "needs help" like Sandy did to him.

90s revival clothes will be coming in about 2 years from now so be prepared.

80s revival clothes

When clothes are revived every 20 years we're in an 80s revival now. Back in the 90s we were in a 1970s one. I'll admit in the 90s I use to wear a loud flower print polyester shirt. I even wore platforms and a mod skirt but not together. When the 80s revival was first starting back in around 2001 all I really wanted to see come back were pumps and huge skirts like the one Cindi Lauper wore in the "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" video. Or the one Jody Watley wore in the "Looking for a New Love" video. The petticoat looking ones.  

The style of flats now are not like the old ones. The ones people wore back in the day were like a pump and more pointy toed. The ones now are too rounded at the toe plus they are mostly made of fabric the old ones were mostly made of leather, leather-like material or plastic (jelly).

Ankle socks need to come back in style and not those little ped ones. I mean the ones that have lace on the top that even the women wore back then with high heels. The ones that are made out of that stretchy material.

Denim needs a lot of work. It should come back in stonewash or acid wash. These really haven't come back in full force. The denim today is not really the same style as it was like 20 years ago. The denim now is unevenly colored and it's not even the kind that is washed. I'm talking about the distressing and whiskering that is not from the 80s. I hate pants that are colored like that. I like my pants to be one color. I can fade them myself. The dark denim is more of an early 80s thing from the disco era which also had pants in one shade.

I can't believe how long hawks stayed in style. All the hawks; mo, faux, pony, Atlanta… I want to see big bangs and overly crimped hair come back. I'm really indifferent about the mullet. It was around well into the 90s, or at least the 1st half of it.  

Big bows need to come back. I really like them. They were so cute and puffy. They were made of materials like tulle, lace and shoelaces.

I had really wanted to see charm bracelets come back in style. Not the metal ones, but those plastic ones that had funny little charms shaped like fish, tennis rackets, and soda cans.

John Cena My Life DVD disk 1 review

Ok so I haven't posted a blog in a while. Well since Cena made his return at the Royal Rumble. I was going to post this sooner, but it needed some editing.

Disk 1

The beginning about his boyhood and rise to stardom is very poignant. He was a very cute little boy with a square head. I especially liked the parts when his dad talked about him making a video and wresting in the basement. I really admire his work ethic and eccentricity.  

His move set is talked about. A lot of people say it's limited. The first move they talk about is "You Can't See Me" I don't know why this referred to as a move. I think of it more as a taunt. This "move" is compared to the moves of The Rock, Stone Cold and Hogan by Vince He said it's a ridiculous move. It was developed by Cena to get crowd participation.

I really like the 5 Knuckle Shuffle even though it really does nothing. It's just showy and dumb, but in a good way. I like it more than the F-U or the STFU. Tazz tells this funny story about the 5 Knuckle Shuffle. He says he's not a fan of the move. He said that Cena came up to him with the idea of it and he helped him with the name of it. One of Cena's brothers, Dan said it's a wannabe gangster move.

According to the DVD the F-U is one of the most recognized moves in this day.

Vince says he's an entertaining athlete.  

The part when the question is asked what the future will bring for Cena of course the pec injury is not mentioned because it happened after this was made. They say he has unbridled enthusiasm and he can do what he wants career wise. His success is compared to his predecessors; Hogan, Triple H, the Rock, and Stone Cold and Vince says he will be bigger than them. JBL and Tazz say he will be the next huge superstar.

Why I think Cena can't be as marketable as Hogan was. He can't be because there are too many restrictions on how things can be marketed to kids. Cena could never have his likeness in a Saturday morning cartoon. What would a Cena cartoon even be about? Could there be a cartoon based on his movie The Marine? There are too many FCC restrictions now on children's programming. He would have make some sort of edutainment show. I guess he could go on adventures and just spew random facts to make the show educational.

He couldn't have his own 1-900 number. It would have a silly number like 1-900-TLK-CENA or 1-900-FOR-CENA. He could just say dumb things over the phone through recorded messages like "The champ is here!" or he could rap or something on it. Or it could be like the Corey hotline from The Simpsons and he could just list words that rhyme with his name. He could say "Here are some words that rhyme with John…gone, song, wrong, prawn…". Or he could even talk about his last name "Here are some words that rhyme with Cena… subpoena, cantina…".

Or he doesn't even need a phone number you could just text him. Texting is the new thing now. "Text the word 'CENA' to the number XXXXX" and  you receive messages from him and freestyles.

He could do cereal commercials or even have his own food products. Of course it would have to be healthy food since he can't do what they did back in the day and sell unhealthy food to kids. I think he should have a fun cereal something square shaped like Chex.

He also needs to make some kind of family oriented film. Something that has either a supernatural being like a ghost, witch, or genie, or a movie that has some kind of talking animal he befriends and they go on an adventure. He could even lend his voice to a cartoon character. I'm not even sure what kind of character it would be.

The extra feature on this disk is his muscle car collection. I'm not a fan of those, but my dad did find this approximately 40 minute segment enjoyable. Then my dad told me why didn't I tell him that Cena like muscle cars. I never told him because at the time we met him I didn't know that about Cena.

I accidentally found some Easter eggs on this disk one is an outtake of one of his friend's interviews and the other is about Cena's college football team and the Roach Patrol.
