Asian Goodies

Originally posted on 2/12/2007

I like Asian food, ok mostly Chinese food, but I have since I was a little kid. But liking Chinese food doesn't automatically make you an Asiaphile. I've loved Chinese food and Ramen since I was really little and I didn't know what an anime was, but I watched them anyway, Ok I mostly watched Voltron. I mean ramen is so easy to get. People break it up and feed it to toddlers.

There are a lot of Asian goodies I like. Here is a list of the ones that came to mind or that I could think of; Botan Rice Candy, Udon, Ramen, Pocky, seaweed, Chinese candy, Sushi, Koala Yummies, Dried Cuttlefish strips, Shrimp chips, Dried Yakisoba, teriyaki bowl, wontons, Hi-Chew, fortune cookies, almond cookies, yan yan, Mama ramen, Nissin Ramen, Maruchan ramen, Myojo udon, Smack ramen.

I like Chinese candy. My grandma use to get it for me all the time when she use to shop at 99 Price, back when 99 Ranch was called 99 Price. She use to get me this gum and it had fake tattoos on the wrappers, and this other candy it was a bunch of lollypops and they came with a small toy like a hollow plastic Kewpie-looking doll or a fishing game. I liked the lollypops they reminded me of the microphone Bob Barker used on The Price is Right in the late 80s, and they tasted good too.

Hi-Chew is ok, I got some at an anime club booth. The girl manning the both told me that they were the Japanese equivalent to Starburst, but they are not really. The Hi Chew have a less intense flavor and are more rubbery like between the consistency of soft bubble gum and a marshmallow. But they are a pretty good candy.

I love getting teriyaki bowls. I usually get them at mall food courts. I've been eating them since I was about 3 years old. They are so good to eat along with an Orange Bang.

I love Koala Yummies also known as Koala's March. I remember wanting them when I use to see the commercial for them on tv in the early to mid 90s. They are so cute they have little koalas printed on them. My favorite koala picture was that was the back of the koala. These are a great cookie as long as all the kids in your class are not mooching them off you at lunch, or have the inside melt because they were in the hot classroom all day. I tried strawberry, but I love the chocolate ones.
